Ningbo City-round Expressway (Western Section) has stepped into the period of overall construction. It is planned to be open to traffic at the end of 2007. This total length of the project route is 42. 135 kilometers, in which the section from Qianyang to Zhaoyang is eight lanes, the length of this section is 22.0 kilometers. The others sections are all six lanes. The total investment of the project is about 4 billion yuan.

The main function of the project is serving for through traffic, harbor connection and entry and exiting of city. The construction of this project has great significance for developing the comprehensive traffic, solving the problem of transit and entry and exiting traffic, relieving the traffic pressure of city, improving the integral level of Ningbo highways network, bringing into play of scale efficacy of highways network£¬strengthening the capability of collecting, dredging and transporting of Ningbo port, promoting a rapid and continuous economic development of Ningbo, radiating the whole Hangzhou bay area and Shanghai, realizing the integration of regional economy, building Ningbo into an international port city.
